Sculptor Gutzon Borglum's Shrine to Democracy.
Blasting and carving on the mountain took place from 1927 to
1941. Approximately 3 million visitors annually stop to admire
this granite colossal monument. The heads (l-r) of George Washington,
Thomas Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln are six stories
high from chin to top of head.
